KSAN Storm Team Daily Forecast Update – Tuesday December 11, 2018

Weather

Tuesday brought an increase in Cloud cover in the Concho Valley which led to cooler temperatures than what was expected. We only topped out in the low 60s at Mathis Field. A similar day will be on the way for Wednesday along with the chance for a few showers in the afternoon. These showers won’t amount to much. The big changes arrive on Thursday when a strong upper level low dives out of the rocky mountains sending a strong cold front our way. Thursday will be a very windy day behind that front with 30-40mph winds occasionally gusting up to 50 to 60 mph. At the same time a few rain showers will be possible, and, with the dynamics of the storm system, some of this rain may change over to snow as colder air is brought down towards the surface from the atmosphere. The best chance for this to happen will be over our northeastern counties. If the change-over happens, expect wet snow which can accumulate quickly, meaning 1-2 inches may not be out of the question. There is still a lot to fine tune with this forecast and we will keep you updated. Beyond that, a nice weekend is in store with highs in the 60s.
