KSAN Storm Team Daily Forecast Update – Saturday December 8, 2018

Weather

For the past 48 hours, San Angelo officially received about 1.5 inches of rain at Mathis Field. Last night temperatures stayed above freezing, therefore most, if not all precipitation melted before hitting the surface here in the Concho Valley.

That was not the story just to the north of us. Significant snow showers fell from Lubbock to Abilene. Abilene broke a daily snowfall record today with up to 3 inches of snow falling in the area. Just to the north, Anson, TX received 4 inches of snow, also breaking a daily snowfall record.

As the weather system moved east, heavy rainfall fell across Texas, with major flooding occurring in the Houston area.

What to expect this week…

Here in the Concho Valley, we can expect the week to be much quieter as areas of high pressure and dry air moves into Texas. Expect mostly sunny skies with high temperatures only hitting the 50 degree mark for Sunday. Overnight temperatures will be below freezing in the upper 20’s.

High temperatures will be gradually warm into the mid 60’s mid-week, with cloud cover coming into the picture. Overnight temperatures for the next seven days will be cold, remaining in the 30’s.

Our next cold front will come through west central Texas next Thursday evening with a slight chance of showers as the next weather system moves through the state.

Next weekend will be chilly with temperatures in the upper-50s/low 60’s with overnight temperatures in the low 30’s.
