What it takes to become a pilot

To become a pilot, like most jobs, it takes many hours of hard work and practice. In order to become a private pilot you must have forty hours of flying time. Once your hours are put in you then have to take a written and oral test along with a practical test.

In order to get your license you must be 16 years old to fly solo while practicing and 17 years old to actually receive your license. Once you become a private pilot the next license you can work towards is your commercial license.

Patrick Nuytten, the Owner and Director of San Angelo Flying Enterprise, who has been flying for more than forty years, tells us what it takes in this weeks Concho Careers.
