During the Fourth of July weekend, the Vietnam memorial near the entrance of Mathis Field was defaced.
During the celebration and firework display at Lake Nasworthy people were set up all around the memorial. A barbecue grill was put underneath the Huey helicopter causing it’s pedestal to be coated with grease. Additionally grease was spilled on the pavers, that are engraved in honor of veterans.
The care takers who are Vietnam veterans themselves are left to clean up the memorial.
