The Texas Department of Transportation is encouraging all caregivers to stop by for a free car seat inspection on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the district headquarters at 4502 Knickerbocker Road in San Angelo.

TxDOT will have certified technicians that will perform car seat inspections as well as providing tips and assistance on properly installing car seats.

Common child seat safety errors include installing the seat too loosely, putting the harness straps through the wrong slots, leaving harness straps too loose, positioning the chest clip incorrectly, and using the wrong seat belt path. Technicians will go into detail about these errors to making sure your child is properly restrained while in the vehicle.

TxDOT reminds drivers that Texas law requires all children under 8 years old (unless they are taller than 4 feet, 9 inches) to be in a car seat whenever they ride in a passenger vehicle.
