The National Weather Service has just released their second report and has confirmed two more tornadoes during Saturday’s severe weather outbreak. This report states the strength of the tornadoes that moved through the Concho Valley during the early morning on May 18, 2019.

  • National Weather Service has released its second report on the tornadoes that impacted areas of the Concho Valley
  • Two more tornadoes have been confirmed by the National Weather Service
  • Northern Schleicher and Eastern Runnels both received a tornado, EF2 and EF3, respectively
  • This brings the total number of Confirmed Tornadoes from Saturday’s storms in the Concho Valley to six.

The tornado that impacted west and southwest portions of Ballinger, TX has remained at EF3 strength according to the damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service. Two survey teams were sent out to survey and record the destruction of the area surrounding Ballinger earlier this week and concluded that the damage was consistent with winds of 136 – 165 mph.

The Enhanced Fujita Scale, which is used to describe the power of a tornado based on the damage it produces, describes tornadoes at EF3 strength as “severe.” Well-constructed homes could see entire stories destroyed; severe damage to large buildings and shopping centers. Vehicles lifted off the ground and thrown. Trees and foliage debarked.

The National Weather Service assessed the damage and ranked the intensity of the following tornadoes that moved through parts of West Texas and the Concho Valley:
