The suspected shooter is 19 year old Hollis Daniels.
Monday Texas Tech police made a welfare check on Daniels.
Once they entered his room they found evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Officers took Daniels into the police station for standard questioning.
That’s when police say he pulled a gun and shot the officer in the head killing him.
Chris Cook, a spokesperson for Texas Tech University said, “It’s always tragic when you lose one of your own, especially in this manner. But Texas Tech community is a tight community its tight knit we will rally together. We’ll be there for the support of the family of the officer who passed away and make sure that they know the Tech community and they feel the Tech community and that we’re here for them.”
Daniels was taken into custody around 9:30 Monday night. The campus lockdown has been lifted.
Employees across the state partnered with local non-profits on projects aimed at caring for the elderly.
In San Angelo they worked with Meals for the Elderly by delivering meals to homebound seniors.
They also joined forces with helping hands and Galilee Community Development Corporation to build a wheelchair ramp for an elderly homeowner.
The CEO of First Financial Bank says he plans to do this event again next year.
