In news with Kaitlin Moore, 4 children are dead following a chemical poisoning in north Texas Monday.

The children who died ranged in age from 7 to 17.

One died at the scene. Three died after being taken to the hospital

Amarillo officials say a family member had used water in an attempt to wash away the pesticide, aluminum phosphide, which had been applied under the home.

When the water mixed with the pesticide, it created a toxic gas.

The mother is in critical condition in Lubbock, and the father and other four children are in stable condition at BSA.

The four have been identified as 7 year-old Felipe Balderas, 11 year-old Josue Balderas, 9 year-old Johnnie Balderas and 17 year-old Yasmeen Balderas.

Around 100 people gathered across from the Balderas’ home for group prayer and a candlelight vigil Monday evening.


A former San Angelo resident, now living in Washington State, has organized a movement to find rescue and shelter dogs a home on the west coast.

Jennifer McConn says the pet adoption market is saturated in Texas, more dogs available than people looking for them.

McConn started project freedom ride, which helps to transport Texan pups to Washington State from rescues and shelters.

Monday, families and volunteers said their good byes as SAFE K9 Transports prepared to take 21 dogs up country.

The KOA is seeing a lot of traffic as those trying to stick with their new year’s resolution walk along the 2 mile trail.

The KOA is located off Knickerbocker and is a popular spot for those walking the dogs or just wanting to be healthy.
