Sonora nature center to host “Citizen Science Day”

Providing a way to celebrate Earth Day with a purpose, the Eaton Hill Nature Center & Preserve is proud host its second annual “Citizen Science Day” at the Eaton Hill Nature Center in Sonora on Saturday, April 22st. The classroom portion begins at 9:30 a.m.

Featuring Professor Chris Harrison of Northwest Vista College, an expert in the field of “citizen science”, this free class will be an introduction on how to utilize technology such as e-Bird and INaturalist so we can all make impactful contributions to science.

After the class presentation, please feel free to join Professor Harrison, members of the EHNC staff, members of the West Texas Herpetological Society and members of the South Texas Amphibian & Reptile Society in their quest to inventory the species of plants and animals that can be seen right here on the Eaton Hill trail system!

Since its inception, thousands of individuals have enjoyed the preserve with its trail system covering over two miles, providing bird blind, canopied trails, and opportunities to observe wildlife in a native setting.
