AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Senate voted unanimously on May 13 to approve the appointment of Nora Castañeda of Harlingen to the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation.
Commissioner Castañeda was appointed by Governor Abbott in May 2019. She is a physician relations manager and in business development for the South Texas Health System, which includes Edinburg Regional Hospital, Edinburg Children’s Hospital, McAllen Medical Center Hospital, and the Heart Clinic.
Castañeda is a former gubernatorial appointee to the Advisory Council on Emergency Medical Services and the Texas State Technical College Board of Regents. Currently, she is serving on Texas State’s Business Development Board and is a former member of the Texas State Alumni Board of Directors, the Texas State Hispanic Alumni Board and the Harlingen Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Castañeda received a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications from Texas State University and a Master of Science degree in education from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
