SASSR Interview with Musician Johnathin Schabb

KSAN’s Kristen Buechler talked to Johnathin Schabb, a county music artist, prior to the first performance of the 85th Annual San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo.

Cowboy Time was written by Johnathin Schaab in 2016. It is a story about bull riders and cowboys. Johnathin captured the essence of those few seconds just before the chute opens in this three minute edgy country rodeo song. Little did he know the crowd would be stomping their feet and clapping their hands to his song when the chorus “cowboy time with 8 seconds to go” was played.

If it wasn’t for his good friend and board member of the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo, Charlie Ducote, suggesting a change to the lyrics in the first line from “Dallas” to “San Angelo” rodeo, it never would have happened. Charlie continues to give Johnathin a hard time about the fact that there has never been a rodeo in Dallas, Texas.

Johnathin professionally recorded Cowboy Time with the new lyrics and Tom Thompson, Marketing Director, of the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo will premier the song at the rodeo on February 3-19, 2017. Look for Johnathin’s three song Cowboy Time demo and debut album, Western Sky, at the Hawkins Battery and Golf Car booth in the Wells Fargo Pavilion and at
