San Angelo man receives citations after colliding with bicyclist

A bicyclist was sent to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a collision in downtown San Angelo.

San Angelo Police were dispatched to Concho Avenue and S. Oakes Street to the report of a major vehicle accident.

Officers say the male driver of a Kia Sorento was traveling westbound on Concho Avenue when he reached a stoplight — began to drive into the intersection– and collided with the bicyclist.

The driver told officers he looked both ways, but did not see the bicyclist.

The bicyclist was transported to the hospital for observation. The driver was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way to a Pedestrian and for not wearing corrective lenses.
