For the past 23 years the San Angelo Health Foundation has aided community non-profits with grants, and now they’ve done it again. Tom Early, president of the San Angelo Health Foundation said in an interview with KLST and KSAN News, “the trustees of the San Angelo Health Foundation announced $2 million in grants this quarter and it’s going to 17 different organizations. Most notably the larger ones are $1 million to West Texas Rehab Center; $650,000 to West Texas Counseling and Guidance.”

West Texas Counseling and Guidance, currently with four offices spread across San Angelo is hoping to consolidate all of their operations into the Cactus Hotel for the convenience of their patients. Several other important organizations also received funding from the San Angelo Health Foundation this season.

“Other grants,” said Early, “were made to Make-a-Wish Foundation, the San Angelo Area Foundation, the Grape Creek ISD, and there were 11 organizations that we gave unsolicited seasonal grants to help them out with Christmas programs.”

Grape Creek Independent School District, according to a SAHF press release, “was awarded $54,060 to purchase a greenhouse, aquaponics and hydroponics system. This unique class offers students at
the Middle School the opportunity to learn horticulture” and many other valuable skills and scientific insights hands-on. Make-A-Wish Foundation was awarded $25,000 and the San Angelo Area Foundation was awarded $25,000.
