SAISD Kids Get Road Safety Lessons

Road safety was the main lesson today at safety city. About 60 kids in all showed up throughout the day from San Angelo ISD.

Texas DPS is trying to create habits among the  kids.
They showed them safety tips like how to safely exit a school bus and cross the street.
As well as what to do when riding a bicycle on the roadway, like wearing a helmet.
DPS Troopers say sometimes adults make mistakes and don’t pay attention while on the road.
They want to teach kids to be aware of the dangers.
“Kids are in safe haven mode where they always expect and as it should be that adults are looking out for them. But sometimes there are mistakes made and we need toteach the kids that you need to take responsibility and safety into your own hands and be aware of hte dangers out there on the roadway,” says Justin Baker, Safety Education Sargeant .
DPS also helped kids learn what to do when walking upon a gas line or electrical line.
