Pedestrian Struck and Building Damaged by Speeding Truck


San Angelo police are investigating a truck that hit a pedestrian in a Shannon Clinic parking lot before colliding with the front of the building. 

Shortly after two o’clock Wednesday afternoon officers were dispatched to the Shannon clinic on Magdalen for the report of a vehicle collision involving a ford F-3-50 super duty and a pedestrian. 

According to police, the victim, a 56 year old man is an employee of Shertz. He was performing landscape work in the parking lot when he was struck. 

He was transported to Shannon Medical center by ambulance where he underwent emergency surgery for incapacitating injuries. 

“Our main focus was to get the man to the hospital as quickly as possible where he could get treatment for those incapacitating injuries. He did undergo emergency surgery,” said P.I.O. Tracy Gonzalez.
The truck eventually came to a rest after colliding with a brick pillar at the main entrance of the clinic. 
Engineers were called to the scene because the integrity of the structure was compromised. 
The driver of the pickup was a 70 year old man made a statement to police that his vehicle was experiencing some type of mechanical issue prior to the crash.
