San Angelo kicks off Police Week

SAN ANGELO, TX – Police, city officials, Goodfellow service members and the public stood outside SAPD in silence as the flag was raised in ceremony for the opening of National Police Week.

After the flag raising ceremony, a police monument dedication ceremony took place at whish a bronze statue by artist Raul Ruiz was unveiled. On the base of the statue were the names of police offiers who’ve lost their lives in the line of duty in San Angelo.

“We’ll be having events throughout the week,” said Frank Carter, Chief of Police for San Angelo. “Some are open to the public, some are private for the officers.”

Among the events open to the public, “Coffee with a Cop” on Wednesday, May 15 at 9AM in the Cactus Hotel. There is also “Running with the Blue” 5k and 1 mile run/walk that same day at 6:30PM. To sign up for the 5k and 1 mile run/walk visit the SAPD website.
