SAN ANGELO, TX – Over the past four years that the San Angelo Area Foundation has held their Day of Giving fundraiser, nearly $5 million has been collected and redistributed. In their entire time operating, the foundation has distributed roughly $90 million to worthy causes, the most prevelant of which, is education
“So the San Angelo Area Foundation was started in 2002 by the San Angelo Health Foundation,” said Matt Lewis, President & CEO of the San Angelo Area Foundation. “They saw the need for having a flexible, chairtable vehicle to manage endowments and manage charitable giving for donors that wanted to benefit a variety of causes.”
One way the Day of Giving benefits the community, is that it inspires many organizations to also give in support of one another. The goal for this year’s S.A.A.F. fundraiser is $1.85 million in the 24 hours that the event runs.
As of 6 PM on Tuesday, May 7, the collective organizations participating in the fundraiser had acheived $1.7 million. This article will be updated with the final total raised as well as Concho Valley Homepage exclusive extended interview content.
