Local Texas Ranger Honored by Canadian Police

San Angelo based Texas Ranger John (Nick) Hanna received several special awards in Austin recently from Canadian police.

Ranger Hanna spent years as a key investigator in the FLDS child sexual assault cases.

He received recognition from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for developing cases in Canada based on the 2008 investigation of the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints compound in Schleicher county.

It was discovered that underage girls were transported from Canada to locations in the United States for “Spiritual Marriages” with older men.

His work helped Canadian police bring several FLDS members to trial.
