Raising approximately $1.28 million dollars, the 49th annual West Texas Rehab Center’s fundraiser was the success they wanted to see.
Director of Marketing for WTRC, Suzanne Click, says, “every year I feel like it just gets bigger and bigger. It is our number one fundraiser. Every penny that we get goes straight back to patient care.”
A big area of focus this year was the auction. Those participating not only were able to bid on items at the Abilene Convention Center, but they were even able to participate at home.
“We have a great auction. You just have to download the Handbid app. Search REHAB2019. It will load the auction, and you can bid and view all of these items that you can see behind me here,” explained Click.
The auction room is also where pledges were made.
“Referrals are continuing to go up every year, meaning the need for our services is continuing to go up every year. This requires that we count on our donors more and more every year,” Click said.
Part of the televised entertainment, aired on KLST, included musical guests headlining the event.
“We have our legacy act which is Ricky Skaggs, who is an amazing artist and very well known. And then we have our up-and-comer Runaway June, which is an amazing female trio,” beamed Click.
With a carnival themed play area for kids, the family-friendly telethon furthered their mission to help patients regardless of financial circumstance.
Click smiled. “It’s just such a blessing, we couldn’t be here without our wonderful supporters, our donors, you guys out there.”
