To help out the victims of the crash
A fundraiser account has been set up for the Clemens family to help pay for the medical bills of the children injured and funeral arrangements for the deceased. [click here to donate]. As of midnight 4/11/2018 the account had raised $77,101 for the family.
From the Facebook fundraiser page:"Jim and Karisa Clemans along with their five precious children were in a fatal car accident as they returned home from a family outing, on Saturday, April 7, 2018. The accident killed, Jim, Karisa and their new born baby, Julieanna.
Two of their children, Wyatt (4 years old) and Angela, ( 8 years old) are still in critical condition, and Zachary 5 years old) has been stabilized, but is in the ICU. Nicholas (2 years old) has been released. The children will need extensive care for many months. We are seeking funds to help with the funeral arrangements and for medical care of these sweet little children. Thank you for your help and for your faith and prayers as we try to support this special family."

Texas DPS report identifies victims of the crash

A preliminary investigation shows that a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on U.S. 87 towards Sterling City when the driver lost control and veered into the southbound lanes, striking a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban.
The driver of the Tahoe, Monique Deion Austin, 23, of Midland, Texas sustained incapacitating injuries. The passenger, a 1-year-old male, suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The driver and two passengers of the Suburban suffered fatal injuries. The deceased were identified as James Alan Clemens, 31; Karisa Brianne Clemens, 29; and a 2-month-old female child. Four other children aged 2-, 4-, 5-, and 8-years-old sustained incapacitating injuries.
The posted speed limit at the scene of the crash was 75 m.p.h., the road condition was dry and the weather clear, according to the TxDPS report.
The crash was investigated by Trooper Keenan Crumbly of the DPS Big Spring office. Trooper Crumbly was assisted by Trooper Brianna Simpson, DPS Sterling; Trooper Shawn Witt, DPS Big Spring; Trooper Joseph Brechtel, DPS Big Spring; Trooper Evelyn Amador, DPS San Angelo ; Trooper Jason McMillian, DPS San Angelo; Sergeant Octavio Ureste, DPS Midland; Sergeant Juan Torres, DPS San Angelo; Sterling County EMS/ Fire Department ; Glasscock County EMS/ Fire Department ; Texas Department of Transportation; and the Sterling County Sheriff’s Office.
