On average the typical household across the US will generate 25 percent more trash during the holiday season. Experts share a few tips for recycling during the holidays.

Keep in mind glass, ribbons, Christmas lights, gift bags or wrapping paper that have a foil coating can not be placed in your recycling bins.

However, typical items like plain wrapping paper, plastics and cardboard can be recycled.

Experts encourage families to plan and prepare to recycle not only during the holidays, but throughout the year.

In weather, a high of 73 today with sunny skies and light winds. Tonight overnight lows in the 40’s and on Christmas day another day of the lower 70’s. Be prepared for a 50% chance of rain Saturday still in the 70’s, but night lowers will drop to almost freezing in the 30’s.
