Melon Fest to offer sweet treats at San Angelo's Farmers Market this weekend

Cantaloupes and watermelons are the highlight

SAN ANGELO, TX - Melon Fest will be from 7am until noon Saturday, July 21, at the Farmers Market Pavilion at 609 S. Oakes St. across from Fort Concho. The event will feature a sweet crop of cantaloupes and red- and yellow-meat watermelons.

Many of the Concho Valley Farmers Market vendors, who come from a 75-mile radius around San Angelo, will be offering locally grown melons for sale during the event.

There will be live music, door prizes consisting of free melons and other produce, and about 30 vendors.

The Farmers Market will also offer tomatoes, peaches, peppers, okra, squash, zucchini, greens, herbs, onions, leeks, garlic, peas, cucumbers, beans, eggplants, pecans, goat cheese, native Texas plants, and homemade goodies.

The farmers market typically charges customers $1 for a bundle or a bowl of produce. Cantaloupes cost $1 each, and watermelons are $4-$6.
