Nearly 300 attend Girl Scout's 2019 Women of Distinction banquet

Five locals honored at the McNease Convention Center

SAN ANGELO, TX - March 8th is International Women's Day and local citizens kicked off the celebration a day early at the 13th Annual 2019 Girl Scouts Women of Distinction. The program and banquet began at 6:30 p.m. and Joanna Alexander, Gay Box, Angela Brooks, Candis Hicks, and Mary Frances Butler Owens were recognized in front of the crowd of approximately 300 people.

These women were chosen by a committee that reviews all of the nominations and ranks the nominees based off their contributions to the community.

This was the 13th consecutive year that the Women of Distinction Banquet has been held.
What started off as a small banquet hosted in a local church, the program has grown immensely and for the past 4 years has taken place in the McNease Convention Center.

This year's recognized Workplace of Distinction was The Junior League of San Angelo.

The night included the Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, a live auction and entertainment, and plenty of support towards the amazing women of the Concho Valley.
