Four killed, 12 injured in two vehicle crash; One fatality a San Angeloan

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that four people were killed, including one San Angeloan, in a two-car crash on State Highway 206 northeast of Cross Plains in Callahan County the day after Christmas.

The deceased are reported to be James Everette Hurley, 37, of San Angelo; Joyce Jordan Collier, 67, of Brady; Bryan Joseph Mikulik, 48; and Debra Ann Mikulik, 52, of Forney.

The DPS report states that a 2018 Ford Transit Van, driven by Hurley and carrying 8 passengers, was traveling south on the highway when it lost control in the wet and rainy weather. The van crossed into the northbound lane where it crashed head-on into the 2013 Lexus GX460, driven by Bryan Mikulik and carrying four passengers.

The bodies were transported to Higgenbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains and Abilene Professional Services in Abilene. All of the surviving passengers were transported to various hospitals: Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth; Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene; and Eastland Memorial Hospital in Eastland.

Synopsis:  Vehicle 1 was traveling south on SH 206 while vehicle 2 was traveling north.  Vehicle 1 lost control on the wet roadway, crossed into the northbound lane, and crashed head-on into vehicle 2.  Crash is under investigation.
