Grape Creek I.S.D breaks ground for new middle school

The Grape Creek I.S.D says that the community is growing, and today shovels were put in the ground Friday to mark the spot of what will be the new middle school building.

The new campus has been in discussion for about 10 years now, and today’s groundbreaking is all due to the growth in enrollment and growth in population of Grape Creek.

The new building is funded by bond money, which will allow the addition for more than 20 classrooms and a new greenhouse building.

The $7 million dollar project was under budget. Money left over will be used to refurbish the elementary school.

Angie Smetana, Grape Creek I.S.D Superintendent, says, “I’ve got to see a lot of changes and it’s exciting, it’s a great thing for us and we’ve got great things going on here at Grape Creek. I’ve got great kids and great staff and so its something we are excited about and waiting to share with everybody.”.

Construction on the new building will start next week.
