Global Be(er) Responsible Day in the Concho Valley

A-B distributing is urging beer enthusiasts across the globe to drink responsibly as part of its Global Be(er) Responsible” day.

The local alcohol distribution site is partnering with San Angelo Police, TX-DoT the San Angelo Young Professionals and Downtown San Angelo Inc to spread this message.

Retha Thortenberry with AB Distributing says partnering with a variety of organizations in the community allows them to spread its message across the board.

“What’s really exciting to me is partnering with the Young Professionals group,” she says. “That’s exactly the target audience that we need.”

Del Velasquez with Downtown San Angelo Inc says his group is cognizant of the safety factor–especially with many downtown locations serving alcohol.

Organizers say although the numbers for drunk driving on a national level are down–Texas continues to lead the nation in that statistic.

“We just want our college students, 21 years or older, to know there is a way to go out and have fun but also options so they can get home safely,” says Thortenberry

It’s the inaugural Global Be(er) Responsible Day for the Concho Valley.

The plan is to provide 300 discounted–and some possibly free–Lyft rides for Concho Valley residents beginning September 21st.

They will release 150 10-dollar promo codes for Lyft on its Facebook page eligible for use the last two weekends of September.

All codes are first come, first-served and riders must be 21 years or older.
