DOWNTOWN SAN ANGELO, INC. TO HOST STATEWIDE MAIN STREET GATHERING

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Downtown San Angelo, Inc. (DSA) has been selected to host Main Street program managers and stakeholders from across the state at the annual Texas Main Street New Manager training and All-Manager Professional Development during the week of June 12.

Several times each year, the Texas Main Street Program (TMSP) of the Texas Historical Commission selects a local Main Street program to host this gathering. Representatives of other Main Street programs across Texas will spend the week learning about San Angelo’s successful downtown projects from local stakeholders, and will also hear from state staff and other local program managers. TMSP is bringing in Jon Schallert, a nationally recognized consumer destination expert. In a day-long workshop, Mr. Schallert will train attendees in how to best assist their local Main Street businesses in becoming consumer destinations.

Attendees will have classes at, and tour numerous venues in and around downtown San Angelo, including the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts; Fort Concho; the San Angelo Performing Arts Center; and Murphy Performance Hall.  To help support the downtown community, the June 15 Downtown Stroll is on participants’ schedule.

Host sites for TMSP’s workshops are selected in part based on their success in organizing and carrying out an effective Main Street downtown revitalization program.  DSA has been the officially designated Main Street organization in San Angelo since 2005. There are 89 designated Main Street programs in Texas. During DSA’s participation in Main Street, more than $139 million in reinvestment downtown from public and private sources has been reported, along with the creation of 649 local jobs and 74 businesses.

Downtown San Angelo, Inc. (DSA, Inc.) extends an invitation to DSA, Inc. partner organizations. For registration and fee information, contact DSA at 325-655-2345.
