Council Approves Ban on Public Property Camping

San Angelo’s City Council unanimously approved an ordinance, Tuesday morning, that will ban camping on public property.

The adopted ordinance is meant to address public health, sanitation and safety concerns from ‘Tent Cities’, such as the one near the Concho River on state property beneath the Houston Harte Expressway.

Effective immediately, camping is prohibited on city, county and state property unless written approval is given. Authorities will begin enforcing the ban on June 1.
