Construction on Highway 67 Causes Delays

News

TxDOT and Reece Albert are currently working on a 3.5 million dollar project that is west of San Angelo on HWY 67.

The project started at the end of October and is working on paving 11 miles of roadway, “we’re paving 11 miles of this stretch because, the integrity of the surface of the highway has been really damaged by all the heavy truck traffic and oil field traffic going through this area now” said Karen Threlkeld, Public Information Officer for TxDOT.

In the area of construction they are running a pilot car for the safety of the workers and drivers which causes some long delays in traffic. With the traffic there are some alternative routes you can take “folks that live in Dove Creek, Knickerbocker, boys ranch area, they can utilize county road, Knickerbocker road to get to San Angelo” said Reece Albert Safety Director, Dale Thompson.

The project is estimated to finish in February of 2019.
