Concho Careers: Taxidermy

Taxidermy is a job that you learn quickly if it is something for you or not. It is a job that takes a lot of tedious and detailed work.

The most common item mounted is a shoulder mount and the most common animal done is a deer. On average it takes one business day to finish a deer shoulder mount. Willeke Taxidermy averages 300-325 mounts a year.

According to Tim Bunting the Owner of Willeke Taxidermy says smaller animals are harder to do than big animals due to all the tiny details. When it comes to mounting a full animal, the customer generally chooses their own pose.
