Blood drive gives donors voucher for free turkey

Most blood shortages occur during the holiday season, and Shannon employees did their part to lessen the shortage with their “H-E-B Give a Pint, Get a Turkey” Blood Drive.

The event was held at Shannon Medical Center in the Legacy Room. Numerous people came in to donate a pint of blood.

The blood drive is being organized by Vitalant, which is the new name for the United Blood Serviced of the Concho Valley.

Donors received vouchers for free turkeys donated by H-E-B and had their names entered to win a ring from Cano’s Diamonds.

The blood drive will continue Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Shannon Medical Center on E. Harris.
