Residents of San Angelo’s Baptist Retirement Community are getting a home makeover. Phase one of the Baptist Retirement Community remodel included renovations to the Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center.
The high-rise remodel will allow for several new ground floor units to be added, and residents are looking forward to the update. The campus update doesn’t just apply to the buildings. Additional infrastructure maintenance is also slated. During the work, Main Street Cafe will remain open.
“Here at Baptist Retirement Community we have over 100 acres, and all the streets, all the roads – we have to maintain them. They’re not part of the city,” said Hargett. “So we’re getting a whole new resurfacing of roads and the streets with this project as well.”
Even the parts of the campus slated for demolition, such as sections of the Evelyn Linebery building next to the chapel, serve the larger community as they were recently used for SAPD SWAT training prior to being torn down. After the demolition, the rest of the Linebery buildiing will be the new home of the community administration offices. Baptist Retirement Community is owned by Buckner Retirement Communities.
