Back to School Driving Safety

With summer winding down and back to school right around the corner, a refresher about the laws around schools is always needed. San Angelo Police Department, Public Information Officer, Tracy Gonzalez talks about when vehicles need to stop around buses, school zones, and the city.

When drivers see a buses lights start flashes and the stop sign fold out, that means drivers on both sides of the road need to come to a stop. The driver can start driving again once the lights stop flashing and the stop sign folds back in.

During school hours always pay attention to the different identifiers around town. Not all school zones are marked the same and some may include different speed limits. But regardless of the what the speed is cell phone use is not allowed when the school zone speed is in use.
