A “Back the Badge” blood drive this weekend helped support our police, sheriff, and fire departments at the Sunset Mall.
This is the fourth annual blood drive hosted by United Blood Services and people that are ages 16 and up can donate.
However, 16 and 17 year olds will need parent permission slips.
About 80% of people will need a blood donation in their lifetime and for every one donation, three lives are saved.
The Donor Recruitment Specialist, Kelsi Dunson, says “it’s always great to help our local law enforcement. They do so much to protect our community, but during the summers there’s more traffic on the roads, there’s more accidents, so there is always a greater need for blood.”
The event happened this afternoon from one to five and any blood type is accepted.
