More than 90 Angelo State University undergraduate students will present the results of their academic research and creative endeavors during the seventh annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, April 20, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
Co-sponsored by ASU’s Student Research and Creative Endeavor Initiative, the symposium will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center and is open free to the public. It will feature 70 poster presentations and research displays, and light refreshments will be served.
Participating students will be available to discuss their projects and creative endeavors that were completed under the supervision of faculty mentors. This year’s symposium features the efforts of 92 undergraduate students, including students who participated in the Faculty-Mentored Undergraduate Research Program or received Undergraduate Research Travel Grants during the 2017-18 academic year.
Featured projects represent research in the fields of animal science, biology, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science, English, finance, geosciences, health science professions, kinesiology-exercise science, mathematics, music, nursing, philosophy, physics, psychology and theatre. The projects for the symposium were selected through a competitive application process.
The purpose of the symposium is to recognize students’ contributions to the universal body of knowledge through their research and creative activities. It also provides student interaction with community members who are interested in research activities on campus.
The symposium is also co-sponsored by ASU’s Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
