22-year-old man charged with trafficking child for sex

On Tuesday, July 17, 2018, San Angelo Police began searching for a 22-year-old San Angelo man that was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Sexual Assault of a Child.

Acting on leads, officers located the suspect, Christopher Thomas Brooks, at a residence in the 1900 block of Spaulding Street. Brooks was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.

Subsequent to the arrest, officers located a female under the age of seventeen and an infant child at the same residence. A follow up investigation revealed Brooks had been harboring the girl and her baby as well as engaging in sexual conduct with the girl since May 2018 when her family reported her missing. The missing girl and her baby were later released to family members.

As a result of the follow up investigation, detectives with the Department’s Crimes against Children Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Brooks on the charge of Trafficking Child-Engage in Sexual Conduct, a First Degree Felony.

This is an ongoing investigation and no other information is available for release at this time.
