Mark Brown

KSAN Weekend Anchor

I was born December 24, 1995 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and lived there until I was seven years old.

I moved to Caracas, Venezuela in August 2001 and lived there until December 2002. I lived in Tulsa for two more years then moved to Katy, Texas in December 2004. I spent the rest of my upbringing in Katy.

I’ve always had a passion for playing sports and doing sports broadcasting since I was seven years old. I attended four different colleges due to my aspirations of playing college football. I walked on the football team at Lamar University (summer and fall 2014), Oklahoma State University (spring and summer 2015) and Glendale Community College in Arizona (fall 2015 – fall 2016).

I eventually lost interest in pursuing that dream then decided to attend Texas State University (spring 2017 – summer 2019), majoring in electronic media (mass communication) where I earned my B.S. in August 2019.

While at Texas State I worked at the school radio station (KTSW 89.9) as a sports reporter then eventually got promoted to assistant sports director where I got the chance to host a 30-minute sports talk show, do color commentary for women’s basketball, baseball, produce games/shows, and many other things (summer 2018 – spring 2019).

I interned at Sun Radio in Austin, Texas where I got the opportunity to do radio play-by-play broadcasting for high school football (Gonzales HS), boys/girls basketball and produce lacrosse games (Dripping Springs HS) [August 2018 – May 2019].

I also interned at KXAN in Austin with the sports department during the summer of 2019 (June 2019 – August 2019).

During my free time I value to working out, hanging with friends, watching sports and spending time with family. I also have my own sports talk podcast that I launched in May 2019 where I usually talk about trending topics in the NFL, NBA, MLB, college football, college basketball and track & field. I’ve interviewed notable guests like Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas, Darren McFadden, Julia Morales, multiple sports illustrated writers and many others.

The name of my podcast is “The Lowdown” and you can find it on SoundCloud, Apple, Spotify and iHeartRadio.
