Mackailyn Johnson

Mackailyn joined the KSAN team in April of 2021 as the weekend anchor and weekday reporter.

She’s lived in a handful of places but spent most of her life living in the Houston suburb The Woodlands, TX. Mackailyn graduated in May of 2019 with a B.A. in Mass Communication and a minor in political science from Sam Houston State University.

This isn’t Mackailyn’s first rodeo, she joins the KSAN team after working two years at a station in Denison, TX. There she worked as the weekend anchor and weekday Multimedia Journalist. Mackailyn covered stories in both Texas and Oklahoma varying from local community-impact stories to important court cases and Tribal land laws. She anchored and produced 8 shows every weekend during her time in Denison. During her time, Mackailyn learned how to carry a heavy workload and provide compelling news coverage.

While Mackailyn was growing up you could find her watching early morning news with her grandmother as they sipped on coffee that had too much sugar in it. It was then she realized how the anchors and reporters were connecting her to different parts of the world and how she wanted to do that too. Her biggest career goal is to become an Emmy-award winning journalist.

When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her friends, trying new restaurants in the Concho Valley, binging her favorite shows and shopping.

Mackailyn is very excited to get to know the people of the Concho Valley and let them get to know her.

She’s ready to tell stories important to the area. So, if you have any story ideas send them her way at
