Tough forecast for tonight. A strong cold front is headed this way from the northwest. As it approaches, we will see winds increasing, as well as some showers and thunderstorms. The thunderstorms will depend on how much sunshine we will see this evening. The sun has been coming through the clouds for about the last hour, or so. The sunshine will cause instability & will help to spark some thunderstorms. With that being said, I don't believe that there will be many, if any, severe thunderstorms. We would have needed it to be sunny for about the whole day for that scenario. The best chance and potential for stronger storms will be along I-10, in the southern counties. There are a couple of storms just east of Fort Stockton, headed east. The front should pass through the Concho Valley by 10:00pm to the north and by midnight in our southern counties. Winds will be gusting to around 40 mph and temperatures will fall very quickly behind the front.
