State of the City Address

Future water supplies for the city -- and the impact of oil field production were the key topics of today's state of the city address.
Future water supplies for the city -- and the impact of oil field production were the key topics of today's state of the city address.

It’s an annual event for San Angelo during their august membership luncheon -- members heard from city manager Daniel Valenzuela.  He talked about keeping up with the service industry surrounding the increase in oil production west of the city -- and finding enough water during the continued drought.

“I think we have a pretty solid council and I’m pretty excited about it. I think the city council working with our staff and its citizens will accomplish a lot this coming year.  Course we're always concerned about water but that's been the problem with this area for fifty years so we've always been concerned with water. But we have some plans in affect.”

The mayor also talked about how recent oil production has helped increase economic infrastructure that will benefit the city for several decades.
