A local young woman was recently diagnosed with a rare form of lupus. Saturday morning, her and her family organized their first fundraiser for future treatments hoping the community may help.

Saturday morning, Nicole Gaitan and her family hosted a roping event at the Coliseum to raise money for those expensive treatments Nicole will have to endure in the future. In West Texas we do not have a Lupus Foundation; therefore Nicole will have to travel to one of the three locations in Texas to receive treatments.

Nicole was diagnosed in September and although this was her first fundraiser, her mother says they plan to host additional events in the near future.
