The first days of the new year and already some San Angelo residents are packing stores trying to make their new year resolution to quit smoking last.

Create A Cig owner Jerry Suriff is already loving the effect of the new year on his sales.

"Buisiest day we ever had was yesterday. Almost twice what we've ever done in a day. We had so many customers coming in from 9 o'clock (till) close," smiled Suriff.

Yet Suriff was relieved when Friday was a bit slower. All but one employee was needed to conquor the rush.

"At the moment, I have 5 employees, plus my wife and I make 7 employees," Suriff said.

Yet, not everyone shopping for an electronic cigarette was trying to quit smoking. According to one teenager, vaporizing the 'e cig', as the product is known, is one of the most popular trends.

"I had a couple friends of mine let me try it our and I thought it was pretty cool. I thought it would be interesting to go and get it and try it out," stated Jonathan Gutierrev.

Gutierrev and his friends have found creative ways to put the e cigs to use, thanks to YouTube videos.

"We blow smoke in it and turn it on and it blows smoke rings out of it," described Gutierrev of the experiment he and his friends performed.

While other creative uses are possible for the e cigs, the slogan 'don't hate, vaporate' is a popular for a reason.

Suriff thinks the health benefits and monies saved are the main motivations for his customers.

"The expense is inititally a lot, sometimes 2 or 3 cartons to get the equipment depending on the equipment and the level they chose," continued Suriff.

Suriff's version of 'a lot' is $55 dollars for a start up kit. However, mention this article and a 10% discount will be provided with an in store purchase. After the initial purchase, a bottle of juice with the nicotine flavor is $6.49 and it lasts a week, depending on the addiction of the nicotine user.
