A native to the Lone Star State, Skylar was raised in Seminole, Texas. Skylar earned a broadcasting degree from West Texas A & M University in Canyon, Texas. While pursuing her degree, she held various leadership roles in the university’s Broadcasting Department including Operations Director and Director of Maroon Productions, the school’s video production crew. She earned a spot on the Dean’s List several semesters for her academic diligence. Skylar became an initiated member of Delta Zeta and a sweetheart of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, where she met her future husband.
Upon graduation, Skylar was happy to remain in Texas for her first broadcasting job. She began work at KSAN in December of 2010 and quickly worked her way to the weekday evening desk, where you can find her now. Her passion for broadcasting is most clearly shown when working breaking news or in the field reporting. Skylar holds the responsibility of sharing people’s stories in the deepest regards.
When she’s not broadcasting, Skylar spends much of her time engaged in philanthropic work within the community. She is a current board member of Habitat for Humanity and has worked in the past with the United Way of the Concho Valley. Skylar enjoys spending time with her husband, Ashton, newborn son, Tristan and their two rescue pups, Penny and Marley. She loves flying private airplanes with her family and cooking new and challenging recipes. Skylar can often be found shopping the Farmer’s Market or at Chicken Farm Art Center’s First Saturday events.
