The mother of the alleged shooter, 64-year-old Cathleen T. Hughes, underwent surgery Monday and remains in the hospital. The second victim, 64-year-old Theodore A. Hargrove, was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon for observation, and released Tuesday morning.

At 4:05 p.m., Monday, Sheriff's deputies responded to call of a shooting at a residence off of Sutton and March Road, in Grape Creek. The residence is about 10 miles from U.S Highway 87.

Upon arrival, two victims were found and transported to Shannon Medical Center. The alleged shooter, 31-year-old Gabriel Hughes, remained in the home resulting in a seven hour-long standoff with Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies. Several other agencies including the San Angelo Police Department SWAT and Homeland Security assisted with Monday's standoff.

Officials say, gas canisters were deployed into the residence causing Hughes to exit just after 11:00 Monday evening.

Hughes is currently being held in the Tom Green County Jail and has been charged with a first and second degree felony for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The circumstances leading up to Monday's incident has not yet been determined. As we recieve further information, we will keep you updated.
