It's almost time for some football in San Angelo with the Lone Star Football League as the San Angelo Bandits are hosting the New Mexico Stars in a big post-season game. Jeff Corean has our report on how they got here.

Jeff: "You've heard it before and it's worth repeating. Last year the San Angelo Bandits were a dismal 1-11 and finished the 2013 Lone Star Football League Season in dead last. Now the Bandits are tied for first and the turnaround began last fall."

Joe Brannen: "You know, you've got to give all of the credit to our players. We have a great organization, we have a great fan base that's been extremely supportive of us throughout the year. We went out and started building this team back in October when I was hired. We were looking for guys ... everyone wants to win a championship. We wanted guys that were willing to do what it took, make the sacrifices that were needed to be a championship caliber football team. You can't win a championship day one. It takes every single day to and going out to earn it every single day."

Jeff: "The Bandits complete turnaround has turned heads all around the LSFL, including League Commissioner Darlene Jones."

Darlene Jones: "When you're going from worst to first, that's pretty awesome. He's done it by his recruiting ability, by his coaching ability and by picking good guys. Those guys work hard, they work as a team. You know, there is no hero on that team."

Jeff: "This Saturday night the Bandits look to complete the turnaround when they host the New Mexico Stars right here at Foster Communications Coliseum. The Stars and the Bandits split the regular season series, and coach Brannen knows his Bandits have their work cut out for them."

Brannen: "New Mexico, they have a great defense. That is what they have built this team around is their defensive front. Especially D-line and linebackers. Their secondary does a good job of forcing you to be patient and eliminate some of the big plays. So they have a good football team. They wouldn't be here if they didn't and it's going to be a heck of a game Saturday night."

Jeff: "Jeff Corean, KSAN, San Angelo's sports channel."
