The Children's Advocacy Center spread awareness for Child Abuse Prevention month by hosting the 9th annual Picnic in the Park at Kirby Park. The event aims to encourage quality family time to create healthy families. The annual Picnic in the Park was free to attend and featured a variety of kids activities from games and prizes along with music, food, and snow cones. Each year Picnic in the Park receives up to two thousand people for the event.
"We want families to spend time together. For us it's about quality time with your family spending time with them. To do that you have to kinda get away from everything so the park is a perfect way to do that. So the Picnic in the Park has just been a big deal for us every year. and it's something we like to provide and we hopefully will be able to continue to do that," Children's Advocacy Center Marketing Director Leann Hubert said.
The Children's Advocacy Center encourages everyone to participate in "Blue Friday's" during the month of April by wearing the color blue, the national color for child abuse prevention.
