This weekend the Lake View Chiefs Baseball team will hit the road for a tournament. KSAN's Jeff Corean was on their campus this afternoon and filed this report.
Jeff: "Lake View Cheifs baseball program look for new beginnings and a fresh start in 2014, a fres start which involves returning players."

Hank Casey: "We have a lot of experience coming back. We have five startes coming back which is always a big deal, especially in a district as tough as ours. We talk about potential and in order to achieve your potential you have to deal with actions rather than the hype of a bew season."

Jeff: "Key returners to the Lake View baseball program hope to shed some positive light that will extend to beyond just this diamond."

Branden Mermella: "This is a lot better infield than we've had in the past few years. I'm really excited to be playing with a bunch of dudes that I've grown up with. Just being around the baseball community feels good. Especially here at Lake View. We need it around here."

Jeff: "From Coach Casey to to incoming freshman and especially returning seniors, there's one common mindset surrounding the Lake View baseball program, just compete."

Zak Velez: "It's pretty exciting being my senior year, I'm going to go and make the best of it. Do anything I can do to win. Just compete."

Jeff: "Coach Casey and his coaching staff knows what competing could bring to the Lake View Cheifs...winning."

Coach Casey: "We talk, not only about competing, we want to go win. We geared our pre-season towards tournaments with trophies at the end of them because we want our kids use to playing in games that mean something. We are working to play towards playoffs is always our first goal, and then we work to build apon that."

Jeff: "Jeff Corean, KSAN, San Angelo's sport channel.">>
