KLST Thurs. 07/31/14 Noon Weather

Afternoon weather forecast for Thursday, July 31, 2014.

The cold front pushed through San Angelo early this morning as winds slowly picked up compared to last night and switched to the north. This will help to end the string of triple digits that we've seen in the past week. Yesterday's high of 103 marked the 10th day of 100+ degrees for 2014 and the sixth consecutive. Of course the cooler air behind today's front will keep things from getting hot. Still remains warm but highs taking a 10 degrees swing dropping back into the low 90's. Winds will also stay fairly breezy out of the north 10 to 15 miles per hour. Storms along the front could still form throughout the area but with limited energy we're not expecting to see large coverage. Calling for isolated storms throughout the area with the better chances along and south of the I-10 corridor through this evening. That means for the most of the region will be drying out by tonight allowing for cooler overnight lows in the mid to upper 60's and only gradually warming through the rest of the week and weekend. By next week, high pressure starts to build back into the Concho Valley which means warmer temperatures, expect to see the mid to upper 90's for Tuesday and Wednesday.
