KLST Mon. 02/17/14 Noon Weather

Afternoon weather forecast for Monday, February 17, 2014.

After a warm weekend, and a record breaking high on Sunday, our warmer trend will take a few steps backwards. Weak cold front passing through this morning ending around the I-10 corridor around 10am. Behind the front expect not only warm conditions in the low to mid 70's but breezy winds out of the northeast 15 to 20 miles per hour with gusts possibly around 25. As the front pushes south the winds will start to subside around the evening and overnight hours moving back to the southeast as well. During the evening hours we'll watch for some cloud cover to stick around as well keeping lows in the upper 30's. By tomorrow expect warmer conditions again back to the upper 70's with the return to the 80's for Wednesday. All the warmer trend is due to the zonal flow of the atmosphere keeping things very consistent. Then the changes occur. A trough of low pressure will push south bringing a cold front with it just in time for Friday. Watch for cooler conditions on Thursday back in the 70's with breezy winds again, dropping to the 60's by Friday. Cloud cover stick around through the weekend as highs only reach the mid 60's and overnight lows stay in the upper 30's to low 40's.
