Kaitlin Lumpkins: "I really wanted to be on a successful team and be winning. This year they're going for their sixth Lone Star Conference Championship and they go to the National Meet all the time, so they're really successful."
Earning the chance to be a college athlete is not an easy path to take. Her father who also serves as one of her coaches says she's been determined her whole life.
Bobby Lumpkins: "From the days of summer track, AAU Junior Nationals, again when she was five years old she was out there working and she's loved it ever since."
Kaitlin: "It's not easy because you have to make yourself do it and you have to have the will to do it and the determination to do it."
Bobby Lumkpins ran track for the Rams, so this is now a family tradition, one which Kaitlin is proud to continue.
Kaitlin: "He actually won the 10,000K run and so it meant a lot to me to stand in his footsteps as well."
Bobby: "It's been awesome to watch as a coach. She's always been an extreme competitor, but on the other hand as a dad I'm extremely proud of my little girl."
